MATERIAL CONVERSATION
ABOUT US
THEÂ REVIEWS
We - the collective 'we' as a society - are slowly becoming more aware of how women, persons of colour, and people from the LGBTQ2IA+ community are being represented in/on our television, movies, and video games. Gradually, we are realizing the importance of proper representation.

One cultural area that I think remains to be discussed further is literature. Books play a major role in education, and are a wonderful tool to transfer knowledge. While canonical books remain brilliant works of fiction, I believe it is important to question if and how they may come to reinforce problematic representations, while still appreciating their excellence.
In these reviews, I will seek to give books, both new and old, equal treatment. I will strive to open up conversations of representation, while being fair but critical.
The Critic
& Blog Manager
KELLI SITARSKI
There are multiple intersecting identities that make up my individual character: I am an avid and passionate book lover; I am a proud feminist; I am an educator - a facilitator of important conversations, a mentor and a role model. As a teacher, I am concerned about how my students will grow and develop into conscious global citizens. I care about representation, especially in the books we read, and the books we teach to kids.
I use the pronouns she/her.Â
I graduated from Brock University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts, Major in Theatre, and a Bachelor of Education.Â
In August 2018, Mark and I moved to Hampshire, England, so that I could pursue a teaching career, and I have worked as a secondary school English teacher for the last two years.
